Summer Solstice Spitfires

22nd June 2016 to 6th July 2016

HENI Gallery, 6-10 Lexington Street, London

"Summer Solstice Spitfires by Brian Clarke is an entirely new body of 50 stained glass works. The Spitfires are suspended before cloud shapes that are constant throughout the series, but the arrangement of coloured planes within those clouds is unique to each. Clarke considers this work to be the ultimate expression of an artistic enquiry, which has included drawing, painting and sculpture. Clarke's earlier works, based on natural forms, all generated series in various media. Similarly, the Summer Solstice Spitfires, 82 x 82 cm each, can be appreciated individually or as a whole. They are radical successors to Clarke's large stained glass spitfire installation at 6-10 Lexington Street, London, one of the most significant interventions of stained glass in an urban environment." – HENI
